Another skiing great has lost his life.

I am posting this because avalanche danger is REAL and can kill even the most experienced. Jamie Pierre, local Wasatch, UT skier died yesterday in Snowbird Resort terrain which has not been opened to public yet. According to the UAC he was caught in an avalanche that held October's rotten snow which most likely, was the weak layer that caused the slope to rip out. I have personally seen the effects of early season snow combined with avi deaths year after year in the Wasatch Range. Apparently him and his partner were not wearing beacons and had no rescue gear. It's sad to hear of his death as I have personally seen Jamie Pierre skiing in the deep snow.
Let's all have a safe, powder filled ski season. Please be smart, make time for practice using avi gear, use your knowledge and carry your avi gear so that we can all enjoy turns together for the rest of our lives. It's our lifestyle not just a hobby for the Blower Pow Crew!

Montauk spearfishing

35" striped bass

Beautiful weather! 80 degree days in mid-October. Lost track of how many fish were caught...big blues and stripers feeding on tiny 'rain' bait. Free dove both days after we were tired of pole fishing...no wetsuit needed...in October...whaaaat! Took home a few stripes for the dinner table. Couldn't of asked for better days! I'll be in Montauk every fall until I die, its absolutely amazing...world class fishing! We seriously have to try to all get out there for a few days next year. Went out again yesterday for a day trip and despite the snotty weather, we ran into patches of Albacore and Blue fish. Watched Sal catch some huge Albies and blue fish on the fly setup.

Biking, hiking, beach, great restaurants...lets do this!

SUSHI TIME!

Bait to Plate...at Velo in Nyack...SO GOOD!

R.I.P. South Ridge Triple Chair

A true piece of Killington history! The South Ridge Triple was built in 1977 at Killington Resort and featured a 90 degree turn in the lift line. This past summer, the lift was retired after 34 snowy winters of service.

Killington Brewfest

Killington Brewfest  Click link on left   Who's interested in some Northeast local brews and some bike riding Oct 1 weekend?  Maybe we can look into renting a condo which is in riding distance from Killington so we don't have to drive during/after drinking plenty of cold ones.   Would be a great time to drink beer, ride bicycles, alpine slide, golf, disc golf, bike riding and bbq'ing in Vermont to start bringing in cold nights with white flakes soon to fall from the sky!

heat wave

As this heat sticks around this summer I started to cool down by looking at ski photos and videos from the blower powder blog. I'm still trying to enjoy the Summer by traveling, riding my bike , swimming and fishing. Hopefully this winter will be another epic season all over the world. Pray for snow!

Rockland Monsoon

Yup, totally got stuck in the deluge today at Rockland Lake. Check out how much rain fell in the time it took me to watch ALL of Ghostbusters in the parking lot while I waited out the storm, haha. Pretty sick...

Hudson River Striped Bass Season

MomentSurf, SnowWorries n Gracie on day 3 of the Striper Hunt, in good spirits(it was early).
There was a lot of downtime - how could we possibly entice the elusive Hudson River Striper to eat our day old, warm, dead fish while they're trying to get laid.

After 2 cold nights and a fruitless day, lots of nasty eel jiz for all, several retarded catfish and a few perch, finally a.... STURGEON?! What the?

The grand prize.

And then the most expensive and unforgettable striped bass dinner ever... DELICIOUS.

Bored...

Didn't even notice the artwork. High humor in the gondola.
In a one piece. Pigtails flying. He made it to the bus.
Typical New England face shots.
Doc Josh. Should have been wearing Boges' one-sy for this.
