A Basin Open's 10/15

I wasn't able to make it up Wednesday for opening day, but was able to skip out of work Friday after a few hours and take the drive up to the Basin. Pete, Jenna, myself and a couple hundred other cars at the base for opening week:
I know, skiing or mtn biking? Well this is what the skiing was like:
For what it was, it was actually pretty good. It felt great to be back on the sticks (I didn't rock out the new BD's yet, need to get them heat molded still). Day 1 is done with many more to come. I'm taking up free-writing in my spare time if anyone was wondering.

Rock out with your (insert word here) out!

"THE 08-09"

The waiting is almost to an end with "THE 08-09" approaching fast. FG aka Soligully and I have purchased plenty of new gear already with the anticipation of another great season. Snowboy just got new BD boots to help him on the uptrack without compromising performance on his line down. Brogan and I are driving out to Denver the 1st week in November for his move from Rockland and then I'm off to Salt Lake. Dr. Oakley and Larry will be riding Killington where they got a place for the season with a few others. FG will be visiting the Wasatch from mid-Jan thru March. Work Summers play Winters seems to be the common theme for our crew! Pray to the almighty ULLR.
Get ready to make turns and keep your tips up!

Black Diamond's AT/Freeride Boot

After reading the reviews of the Konflict and BB's I decided to steer from Full Tilt and go with BD. Now a slighter tougher choice, Factor or Method? After much debate (and the fact that REI didn't stock the Factor, only online) I decided the Method was the answer.... Plus they're toned down and not nearly as flashy as the Factor's. I'm hoping this was a good decision. My instinct was to go for the stiffer flex (Factor rated at 130 vs 110 of the Method) but in talking with the rep the choice was made.

These will definitely be better than the slippers I was rocking last year. So here are the new Methods (no pun intended... maybe) to keep my feet attached to my skis:

With a price tag of 1.5M I'm sticking to my motto: Save now Spend in Winter

14 days until opening day. Although it is still quite warm here... so not sure if that's gonna hold. Opening day was already pushed back until 10/10...

Ciao

Winter 2008

The winter season is upon us... Here's a little something to get you through the next month:

The Legend to open 10/7!

I have been praying to the SNOWGODS long enough for an early Winter!

Living in Salt Lake this summer was awesome. With many great friends and places to go I can honestly say that life's been good. Park City, Moab, J-Hole, a road trip back to NY, High Uintas, Pineview reservoir, the Jersey Shore and San Diego(PB) are some of the places I've been this summer.

It's almost time to slide down hills with sticks on our feet! With choices like P4s , 3 Gotamas, Explosives, Blowers, Zealots, G4s, Beasts and prob '09 Katanas I can't wait wait for the Wasatch powder. After the 3rd snowiest season in 50+ years and forecasted snow for labor day in the mountains I am ready to lock em in, drop them knees and envision the "white room". This year I will let the snow accumalate until early November before I can enjoy the snow myself. FKNA

From now until my return to Salt Lake this is what I see everyday!

Denver, August 18th, Coldest Day in 118 Years. Global Warming?

High of 58degs in Denver on 8/18.

Snow above 7,000 with Mt Evans recording 10" at the summit.... damn. Time to start praying to the Ullr again.

Anyone have K2 hook-up? Need new boots and I ski like I play poker... Always at Full Tilt!

SNOWBIRD JUNE 22, 2008

Snowbird announced their last official day of the ski season. Today was that day. With a lazy start we arrived at 11:30AM and hopped on the tram. Finished up once again on the tramdeck where we met several other friends from the valley to toast the "EPIC" ski season goodbye and a new fresh one in a few months. Let the countdown begin!

Marcus

Megan

No Joke. We had to take our gear off and walk 100ft on dirt/rocks.

Instead of downloading, we figured on a last final run down Peruvian Gulch w/ a short walk back to the tramdeck.

Snowbird June 15th

There is not much better than great friends, corn snow, sun and beers on the deck on a June 15th ski day. Most are hiking or biking while us die hards go skiing to escape the 90 degrees in the valley.

The "Bird" June 8th.

Eager to try my new BD Zealots with tele-bindings and also to get out of the valley to ski the corn, a few of us decided to go to "The Bird"
After Marcus picked me up in the valley we headed to Snowbird for spring skiing. Loaded the Tram at 9:30am. Unloaded and lapped Mineral Basin for 6 runs and then to Little Cloud chair for 2 more runs. Marcus had to work so he left and I skied to the tramdeck to meet up with Megan and Lauren. We hopped in the tram and headed back to Mineral Basin for a few laps. Back to Little Cloud and then down to the base after 2 runs. Celebrated with beers on the deck! June 8th. FKNA!
