Southern Utah

Okay here we go finally....

Day one......
started off in Moab, hiked to the delicate arch and then hung out in town, paid a visit to the castle creek winery and moab brewery :)
view of the arch from the window on the way in

Day 2 - On the way to calf creek falls we stopped in goblin valley, and coral reef state park, this began the road trip of utah scenic route 12. Right before the turn off from route 24 to route 12 there is a ghost town "giles" set off a mile or two from the road, we tried to go back and check it out but there was a stream flooding the dirt road to get back there....guess thats why its abandoned.

The Izzie Goblin

Day 3...After camping in the nice and peaceful campground in calf creek, which i would definitly recommend, we hiked to the falls. People claim is is a 5 hour hike round trip, as it is 6 miles, however we managed to do it in an hour and it was quite easy. the falls were for sure worth it, below is a picture of it and one of the most horrid bugs i have ever seen in my life, the jerusalem cricket just hanging out in the campground, it was like half bee half monster

Calf Creek Falls

Day 4...We packed up and headed into Escalante, on the way we stopped to try to find some hidden petroglyphs the campground host recommended but were unsuccessful. On our way to the Bryce Canyon campground we stopped for a day hike in Willis Creek, a slot canyon near cannonville, wasnt the best of slot canyons but it wasnt far out of the way. Arrived in Bryce early and were able to look around.

Willis Creek

Day 5...Got up early to see sunrise over Bryce Canyon....pretty place however its not worth all the hype and people. Red canyon is a few miles down the road, and is free, just as beautiful, and not as many people. Tropic Resevoir inbetween the two canyons is a nice secluded place with a campground as well as tons of fish

Sunrise over Bryce Canyon

Thats all for now

Avi Awareness

Just a reminder to everyone to be safe this winter. Already three avalanches in the state of Colorado this month:

Always be aware of the conditions and terrain around you, Snotsicle, ha, let's do some early training this year on your way out west. I know you've had some backyard fun already, but snow makes it better!

Tour #1 for the Season

Forecast called for snow the day before my arrival to SLC. It snowed 8"+ and then two days later snowed another foot. Skiers made powder turns down Main Chute at Alta. I was too sketched out for that, so instead I parked at Grizzly Gulch, strapped on my gear and skinned up Albion Basin.

My skin track next to a previous bootpack going up to the top of Vail Ridge

An interesting view of Milli, Wolvi, Patsy and EGP. Viewed from Guardsman's Pass, BCC.

And so it begins...

We'll take it for October 1st...

Can't wait to be right here!

Ireland...Bunch 'O Drunks!

Great trip, we traveled around Ireland for ten days. Flew into Dublin, drove the western coast line to cork, across the southern coast to County Kerry, up the west coast to county Clair and back to Dublin.

Amazingly beautiful landscape! Drank a bunch of Guinness, to much whiskey, and even finished my first full cup of coffee (Baileys coffee, but it counts!) Melissa was able to meet up with some long lost family! We have a bunch of great stories...I'll tell you guys over a pint!

One for you Paul...

Hiking in flip flops...not always the best idea - but well worth the views!

Labor Day Weekend in VT

Sugarbush Resort disc golf. Extremely penal course but accompanied by great scenery.

Soligully's first Gondola ride of the season

After waking up to 41 degrees at 7 AM and a kick ass breakfast at Johnny Boys the search for hidden treasure was on

I had climbed this old lift tower at Killington's Sunrise Mountain scoping some backcountry runs for this Winter. These are closed runs which used to be open to public many years back but now the area is preserved for Killington Snowmobile tours and snowshoers.

After hearing of backcountry where-abouts off Killington Peak we decided to hike from the bottom of Wheelerville Rd. With not much luck on finding good open shots we trekked all the way to the peak for a rewarding view. 3.7 mile trail from trailhead.

Bill - he came, he saw, he conquered

Some of the biggest surf I've seen in the NY area in a while.

Sunday was out of control, massive waves and currents to boot. I was able to watch some great waves be had.

This is Monday, the day after it peaked. I surfed this spot for three hours. I would type more, but my arms are still tired.
