When Snowbird Resort recorded 33" of new snow, Tiphanie and I decided to skin up Flagstaff and make some turns.  WOW!

One final backcountry ski run for me.  These were most likely my deepest turns of the 09/2010 ski season

Riding snow is a lifestyle not a hobby!

Ummmmmmm?

Ride tomorrow, tee it up on Sunday? So, Im heading up to KTown tonight to - what I thought was going to be just grab my shit from the condo for the season. I was just gonna hike around Killington to see the season off, enjoy the sun and warm temps and mentally detach from winter.....UNTIL.....I looked at the forecast!!! Not sure exactly what Im gonna do yet because the better forecast is for Jay and they're re-opening on Thursday. Ill have to assess early tomorrow, but I'm beyond psyched that almost exactly one month after I f'd up my knee, having already caddied 10+ times that Im gonna get to break out the brand new Malolo on April 28th!!!!! Thanks ULLR...Liv2Ride.

recollecting!

As I sit here sippin' on local microbrews watching the sunset over Jackson, Wyoming I start recollecting memories of the '09-'10 ski season and more( Nov-May '09-'10).   

I want to start by thanking everyone that was part of the season!

-4-D "beast" crew for letting me rest my head in the "cozy nook" for December and ringing in 2010.  
-The crew that visited Salt Lake to shred Solitude and drink Hop-Rising with me and of course, much more.  
-Getting Hobacked at J-Hole with Soligully and Brigdonk brought much laughter.  Thankful for Teton Pass
-the memorable day of a 10 mile round-trip trek into Diamond Fork Hot Springs after a full day of ski touring.  .....and of course Molca Salsa at 3:30 A.M.
-A solo camping escape to Moab's hot sun with Skicrazi's dags.  
-3day weekend in South Lake Tahoe gambling, skiing Heavenly and a bear sighting on the beach.
-Mountain Biking getaway to Gooseberry Mesa 
-visiting National Parks ( Arches, Canyonlands, Zion, Bryce, Grand Teton, Capitol Reef)
-Apollo Couloir on Mt. Olympus.   


A few damaged body parts but that is part of what we all do.  Continue to play safe and push for excellence with smiles across our faces.

what a great April for the West!  I am heading to Lake Tahoe tomorrow where they also received plenty of snow! Utah soooooocks

Except for the YTD snow amount... lame.... 4 days this year, trying for number 5 tomorrow.

Apollo Couloir, Mt Olympus

We spotted this NNE facing couloir fueling up at gas station on Foothill Drive.

We mapped our route to Apollo couloir and proceeded through new homes and no trespassing signs which used to be a path to Mt. Olympus wilderness

Snotsicle beating it down the upper 1/3 of Apollo with very firm snow at 40+ degree slope.  A fall would have sucked and most likely break body parts if I wiped into the cement rollerballs

Wow!  after watching that video it looks pathetic but it was quite steep and scary skiing. 

On the way up all the slide paths had natural wet slides avi debris piled 15' high from a natural warming cycle.  Out of respect to all backcountry users we turned our transceivers to "search mode" and were glad to have not picked up a signal

Big thanks to Snotsicle for a Wonderful time in Salt Lake City. I saw everything I wanted to- Snow, Sun, A True Wasatch Storm, Jackson, The Hobacks, Creekside Disc Golf, Molca Salsa, Park City, Blue Plate, Millcreek Cafe, The Inn at Solitude, Hop Rising, Silver Fork Lodge, The Soligully, Cabin Hill, Backcountry Tour, Teton Pass, Idaho, The Coomb and Finally (2) Boot Packs up Fantasy Ridge.

All that = Priceless

March 05. 14 inches. Solitude.

Injured my back on Tuesday. Popped some pills and used heat pads all week to get ready for the storm. My back got better through the week and by the time the storm came, my back was almost pain free. Couldn't miss this one.
