...approached somewhere in between fall and winter...
...and arrived in WINTER!!!
10:15 in NY and no traffic on the Belt Parkway?
Stopping for a breather.
Peak by 11:30 (thanks cat track). About 10"-12" (pretty heavy) on top.
First choice - Hellgate. Hmmm, no tracks...weird? Boner time!
Greg (fellow trick or treater) was kind enough to snap a shot of my psychdness (yup, just made up a word). Hellgate and the The Cliff were the specials on the menu... No shit there was like 15"-20" on this WHOLE SIDE of the hill! Wind kinda brought everything from the back part of the mountain and deposited it all over the front side. Luckyyyyy...
Dessert after a hard day's work! Also, some sweet and pretty surreal views on the way back down the hill...
So, today was definitely a tough day to top in the Northeast. This is the earliest I've ever gotten day one and I was pretty pumped to be able to strap in October and to have the whole mountain pretty much to myself. There wasn't even a centimeter of accumulation until right before I got into the the town of Hunter so I really didn't know what to expect? It was SICK to see snow and Fall leaves shaking hands today and I hope you guys can enjoy the pics. Took about 5 runs total and rode from 12-4. Temps were probably in the mid 20's and the wind was blowin pretty much all day (probably some gusts of up to 35-40). Thanks again ULLR, keep it comin. Wishin everyone a powderlicious (that's two) season.
